Exactly at this moment there is a signing event in London for Joe Hill's new novel King Sorrow. We´re in London now for two specific reasons - to get our copy of Joe's book signed and to meet with Brian Coldrick, a british artist. And why? Both guys are behind the project that will soon become a second title of our publishing house!

We're talking about a short story A Sign of the Times, which has a Lovecraftian vibe and was originally published in Autumn of 2023 as an e-book and year later as a poster with Joe Hill's signature and limited to 300 copies (26 Lettered and 274 Numbered). 

DARK BOOKS will become the first publisher to release the project outside of english language. Translation by Milan Žáček. We want to publish a more spectacular edition than the US one, that's why our edition is gonna be signed by the author as well as the illustrator. 

Number of limited copies will be limited only to 150 pieces instead of 300 (US), which is more valuable for collectors. There's gonna be 26 Lettered copies, 124 Numbered copies and a small amount of unmarked copies (still signed) - these will go on to general sale. We also took the liberty of adding a foreword and an afterword for the short story. 

And how can you purchase one? From tomorrow the 1st of November we'll be e-mailing the owners of the limited editions of previous title The Road to the Dark Tower if they are interested in purchasing and keeping their Letter/Number. If anyone refuses to, his marked copy will be added to the general sale with the unmarked copies later on. General sale will begin on 15th of November, time to be set. 
Due to printers being full before Christmas, we won't be able to publish the story before the end of this year, but you can count on being it available the first quarter of next year. 

The price is set to 1800 CZK/79 € for each edition. Please be aware that this publication is gonna be very slim, but will be crafted with passion, because we care about the collectors.

With Mike Flanagan, Christopher Golden, Michael Baile, Alma Katsu, Johnny Compton, Daniel Kraus, Brian Keene, Chuck Palahniuk and many others, we'll get back in time to live through the Overlook hotel in the times of it's biggest fame and to reveal his dark and bloody past.

Editor of the book is Jamie Flanagan, brother of the director and a big Stephen King fan Mike Flanagan, who's behind the adaptations of Doctor Sleep, Gerald's Game and Life of Chuck. He's contributing into the collection with a short story as well.
The official release date is not yet known, but the book is coming together nicely. If you dig deep enough, you can find some information about the project, as for example the publishing houses around the world that acquired the rights, and yes, DARK BOOKS is one of them!

Unfortunately we kind of expected this, now it is official. Release of Czech edition of Carrie´s Legacy is gonna be delayed due to logistics reasons. So now is the time for the TOP SECRET project that we´ve been working on. This project is now gonna become a second DARK BOOKS edition.

What you can expect?

This edition is gonna be an unique collectors treat. Lenght of the project is really short, however the design and name of the author will compensate for that. Coming in a limited quantity as a Lettered edition (26 copies) and Numbered edition (124 copies) + a couple of unmarked copies.

The Autumn Springs Retirement Home Massacre by Philip Fracassi is officially out today!

A novel full of dark humour and violence is coming from DARK BOOKS in 2027 under an official Czech title Masakr v Autumn Springs.

Illustrations and dustjacket coming by Pavel Pavelka and our edition is gonna have an exclusive foreword and afterword by US authors. Limited editions signed by Philip Fracassi, Pavel Pavelka, author of the foreword and author of the afterword. Coming in three states - Lettered, Numbered, Classic

The original cover for US edition was made by François Vaillancourt and is stunning. But we wanted to create something special for Czech book lovers. We asked Jiří Dvorský to create the cover. Jiří has already been working with us on our previous book The Road to the Dark Tower. Collectors can again look forward to a beautiful limited edition, which will include an unique slipcase, signature sheet and other extras that will make the limited edition truly limited. Jiří has also contributed with an original illustration inside the book. An he is not the only one; other three Czech illustrators created an illustration for our edition - Petr Bauer, Pavel Pavelka and Murin Wolf.
